RELIGION
have no religion, worship at no church, and have no problem with anyone who does. I’ve read the Bible (Old Testament) twice and the New Testament three times in my life. I walked away with the existentialistic view, as the French existentialist philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre said, we are born from nothing, live for nothing and die into nothingness.
However, I part ways with Sartre that life is meaningless. Life is a blessed creation from a tree leaf to a child in a cradle.
However, what humans do to life in their vicious pursuits of power and wealth (and what all animals do in the vicious pursuit of survival) transforms life into a mean and evil existence. This meanness and evilness derives, more often than not, from the worship of religion.
As the Enlightment French philosopher Denis Diderot said:
“Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.”
I agree.
More than 40,000 people, mostly innocent women and children, have been killed in the Israel/Hamas war with nearly another 100,000 injured, maimed, or paralyzed.
World leaders are trying to find a peaceful solution to this devastating crime of war. None has been found, and none can be seen on the horizon.
But I have a solution—that is, if there is a God in heaven.
Let Him descend through the clouds and pull the entrails out of the rotten gut of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and wrap them around the neck of the Supreme Leader of Iran, the Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Khamenei, and let them strangle each other until they take their last breath staring at each other through horror-stricken eyes.
While their deaths would not give life any real meaning, it would provide life with a measure of justice—however, poetic it may be.
